Everything You Need to Know About the iPhone 16e: Price, Camera, and the C1 Chip
Apple Announces the iPhone 16e
Apple has officially introduced the iPhone 16e, a new budget-friendly smartphone designed to replace the iPhone SE (2022) and iPhone 14. The latest device comes with notable upgrades, making it one of the best affordable smartphones of 2025.
A New Name, A New Strategy
Unlike previous iPhone SE models, which were released intermittently, the iPhone 16e is positioned as part of the iPhone 16 lineup. This could indicate that Apple is planning to launch budget-friendly iPhones annually, similar to Samsung’s FE series.
iPhone 16e Features and Specifications
1. Larger OLED Display
The iPhone 16e replaces the old 4.7-inch LCD panel from the iPhone SE (2022) with a 6.1-inch OLED display. Although it retains a 60Hz refresh rate, the move to OLED ensures better colors, contrast, and energy efficiency.
2. A18 Chip and Improved Performance
Under the hood, the iPhone 16e is powered by Apple’s latest A18 chip, the same processor found in the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus. This means significant improvements in performance and efficiency compared to the A15 Bionic found in the iPhone SE (2022).
3. Apple’s First 5G Modem – The C1 Chip
One of the biggest highlights is Apple’s first in-house 5G modem, the C1 chip. Until now, Apple relied on Qualcomm for modems, but with the C1, the company is moving towards self-reliance. The impact on speed, battery efficiency, and connectivity remains to be seen.
4. Apple Intelligence and AI Features
The iPhone 16e is compatible with Apple Intelligence, bringing AI-powered features like:
- Clean Up for photo enhancement
- Notification Summaries to organize alerts efficiently
- Redesigned Siri with smarter responses and better voice recognition
5. Battery Life and Charging
Apple has equipped the iPhone 16e with a larger battery compared to previous SE models. While Apple claims up to 26 hours of video playback, real-world tests will determine if it lives up to the hype.
iPhone 16e Price and Availability
The iPhone 16e starts at $599 / £599 / AU$999 for the 128GB variant. Higher storage options include 256GB and 512GB models. Although this marks a price increase over the iPhone SE (2022), it remains significantly cheaper than the iPhone 16 ($799 / £799 / AU$1,399).
